Naya Nagar Horror: 72-Year-Old Woman Brutally Assaulted by Thief Posing as Electrician
Mira Road: A shocking incident of assault and robbery has come to light in Naya Nagar (Mira Road), where a 72-year-old elderly woman was allegedly brutalized by a thief who gained entry into her residence by posing as an electrician.
According to sources, the incident occurred on 4th December, when the thief, taking advantage of a recent short circuit issue at the woman's residence, introduced himself as an electrician and gained entry into the house. The woman, who was staying alone, was allegedly assaulted for over eight hours, from around 9:30 pm to 5 am the next morning.
The thief allegedly stole gold bangles and attempted to strangulate the woman, punching her repeatedly on the chest. The woman's ordeal finally ended when the thief fled the scene at around 5 am.
The Naya Nagar Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are reviewing the case. The lack of CCTV cameras and a watchman in the building are being seen as major security lapses that enabled the thief to execute his plan.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect vulnerable citizens, particularly the elderly.
The police are working to apprehend the culprit and are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
