PCPNDT Act Violation : Registration of Nine Sonography Centers Suspended by Mbmc

 


Mira Bhayandar : To promote responsible and lawful medical practices by enforcing regulations and preventing unethical practices in the healthcare sector, the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation conducted an Special Inspection Campaign, resulting in the suspension of registration certificates of nine Sonography centers in the twin city.

The campaign, which took place from June 5 to June 25, 2024, was initiated as per the circular issued by Dr Nitin Ambedkar, Director of Health Services, Maharashtra, on June 1 which instructed districts and municipal corporations to conduct a special drive to ensure compliance with the norms of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act.

Special inspection teams were formed to visit and inspect all sonography centers in the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation area. During these inspections, notices were issued to centers found violating the provisions of the Act and its associated rules.

An advisory committee working under the PCPNDT reviewed the inspection findings and recommended actions against centers with unsatisfactory disclosure. Consequently, the registration certificates of three sonography centers - Garuda Diagnoscan and Healthcare Center, (Near G.C.C. Club, Mira Road), Dr. Farid's Hospital (Naya Nagar, Mira Road) and Ashish Multispecialist Hospital (Kashigaon) were suspended for one month.

While six others including Nakoda Bhairav Foundation (Bhayander West), Chirayu Superspeciality Hospital (Mira Bhayander Road), Divine Healthcare (New Golden Nest), A.J. Diagnostics Center (Mira Road), AP Diagnostic Center (Mira Gaon) & Bhakti Vedanta Hospital and Research Institute (Mira Road) faced a seven-day suspension.
