Mira Bhayandar: Trio Arrested for Kidnapping and Sexually Assaulting Minor Girls

 


Bhayandar : In a swift operation, the Navghar Police Station's crime detection team has rescued three teenage girls out of which two are said to be minors. They were allegedly lured by the accused to run away from their house. The parents of the minor had reported the incident, leading to the registration of a kidnapping offence.

The nature of the case was sensitive as the victims & the accused were from different religious backgrounds, therefore the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-01, and Senior Police Inspector of Navghar Police Station instructed a thorough investigation. Acting upon which the crime investigation team swiftly traced and rescued the girls from the custody of the trio accused. 

During the investigation, the victims alleged that they were forcibly sexually assaulted by the accused. Consequently, offence under sections 64 (rape) and 3(5) (joint criminal liability when two or more individuals act with a common intention) of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023 along with relevant sections of the POCSO Act-2012, have been registered against the trio. All the accused has been remanded to police custody till 20th August 2024.

As per information received from sources, the accused and the victim met on social media and decided to go Lonavala for enjoyment. One of the accused used car of his brother to travel. They had booked villa at lonavala where the alleged unconsensual sexual intercourse has been done. API Tukaram Sakunde is conducting further investigations into the case.
