Mbmc to Save Crores by Cutting Private Security Guard Contract

IAS officer Sanjay Katkar,
the Commissioner & Administrator of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, has made a ' Bold Budget-Trimming Move ' by canceling the contract of the contractor providing security guards at various properties of the municipality as the term of the contract has expired in 2018. The administration claims that by doing so, they will save 1 crore 35 lakh per month.

660 Private security guards were appointed through the contractor 'Sainik Security' at various properties of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation like municipal offices, schools, parks, grounds, auditoriums, crematoriums, libraries, water tanks, dumping ground, etc. These 660 security guards have now become jobless as the said contract is cancelled by the Municipal Chief.

On the other hand, the Municipal Corporation has taken 250 personnel of Maharashtra Security Force for security. The jawans given to the officer category have also been withdrawn. The commissioner has asked the head of the department to report according to the need of security guards at the essential places and Maharashtra Security Force jawans are going to be appointed accordingly.
