Ex BJP MLA's son booked for rash and negligent driving at Worli Sea Link

Taksheel Mehta (19), son of former Mira-Bhayander BJP MLA Narendra Mehta has been booked under sections 278 and 336 of the IPC. A notice has been issued to him under CrPC Act 41A. Additionally, his blood sample has been taken, to ascertain whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol,” said a police officer.

Former BJP MLA Narendra Mehta mentioned to a reporter that Taksheel was on his way to an exam, suffered minor injuries, and is now in stable condition.

Toll booth employees reported the accident to the main control room of the Mumbai Police. Upon receiving the information, a mobile van from Worli Police quickly reached the scene, where the driver, Taksheel, was standing. 

A senior police official said that the MLA’s son was driving the car towards Worli at 7.30 am, he lost control of the car and rammed the luxury vehicle into the railing due to which he suffered burns in his hand. 

However, no one else is injured in the accident. Fortunately, the car’s safety features played important role as the airbags poped out during the accident. Taksheel was taken to the nearby Poddar Hospital for treatment.

The police have taken custody of the damaged car and are investigating the incident. A case of rash and negligent driving has been filed in connection with the accident.
